The month starts off just days after the New Moon in Taurus–a lunation that encourages us to cultivate a sense of safety within our bodies.. A reminder that slowing down and tending to the self is a radical act in a world that demands we move at an unsustainable pace. Slowing down to move with deliberation. Slowing down to engage with the senses. Slowing down to self-regulate. Slowing down to make decisions from a place of embodied knowing.
Rest, relaxation, and nervous system regulation are the cure-alls. Truly. Where can you rest and reset? Where can you unfasten, untighten, lean in and surrender?
My body has been craving rest. And permission to free myself from the construct of time and the pressure of the Gregorian calendar. Nature expresses herself in seasons–and so will I.
I worked through self-disappointment of not sending out this monthly email by the first of May. Then I thought, why? What is the point of my self-imposed pressure and who am I performing for?
I prefer to show up out of devotion and out of service to the greater good, versus showing up out of obligation. And I’m learning how to show up imperfectly (Venus & Jupiter in Virgo) as I am. I’m learning that holding myself to high and improbable standards sort of just sets me up for failure–when in truth, my worth isn’t tied to being perfect–my worth simply is.
Last week, I learned that Buddha entered and exited the world during a Full Moon in Scorpio. A young prince who had everything, all his physical desires catered to (Taurus Sun) and yet was left unsatisfied and questioning. Searching for deeper truth and meaning (Scorpio Moon). The journey to recognizing our minds are often the source of our own suffering.
How relevant for these times.
On May 12th, the opposes the Sun conjunct Uranus in Taurus at 26°, and forms a trine to Saturn in Pisces at 28°. It offers an unexpected release or resolution to old programming. Perhaps inherited spiritual beliefs that longer resonate with the person that you are becoming, or the authentic truth of who you are or what your emotional needs are. A desire for liberation and a willingness to create new systems that support freedom and emotional safety–but first, we must let go of what is not working.
May 26th, Mercury in Gemini joins this chatty New Moon–where we speak on our dreams and exchange ideas on how to bring them into existence. Expect fruitful conversations that can inspire new dreams or strategies to escape oppressive systems.
If at any time this month or year you feel overwhelmed–please remember that joy is resistance and rest is revolutionary.
