I’m sure you’ve seen it all over the internet: Move to your Venus Ascendant line to be seen as attractive! Go to your Venus Descendant line to meet your next romantic partner! But the truth is that Venus astrocartography lines are not that simple.
While Venus—the planet of romance and luxury—is a benefic and Venus lines can indeed bring lovely experiences or easy money for many, that’s not true for everyone.
Think about it: your birth chart is unique to you, and the astrocartography lines that will benefit you most are just as unique. Astrocartography (ACG) isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.
This is one of the things that frustrates me about the oversimplified advice some popular astrocartography creators share on TikTok. It does their audience a disservice because the truth is much more nuanced.
For example, if you have Venus in fall (Virgo Venus) or Venus in exile (Scorpio Venus, Aries Venus), Venus lines may not live up to the hype. Speaking from experience—as someone with Venus in fall, trine Saturn, and living on a Venus Descendant line—it’s not always the glamorous story you’re sold.
The same applies if Venus in your chart has challenging aspects, like Pluto conjunct Venus. This combination can bring drama, intensity, and even manipulation into your relationships. Would you still want to move to your Venus line? You certainly wouldn’t be bored, but it might not bring the harmony you’re seeking.
Maybe you’re lucky to have a dignified Venus, like Taurus Venus or Libra Venus, or an exalted Venus (Pisces Venus), so you packed your bags and went to your Venus Ascendant, Venus Midheaven, Venus Descendant, or Venus Imum Coeli… but your experience on your Venus astrocartography line isn’t what you hoped for. It then often boils down to timing. Cyclocartography (CCG), a timing technique introduced by Jim Lewis, overlays transits and secondary progressions over your astrocartography map. It would be worth the trouble to look into this. For example, a Saturn transit could bring delays or challenges to the natural expression of Venus.
As always, I encourage my clients and students to trust their intuition and exercise free will, no matter what the astrology says. No one knows you better than yourself… unless you have a 12th house stellium.
