Astrology is a powerful tool for self-discovery. Personal astrology helps you understand why you are the way you are, recognize recurring themes in your life, identify how you expend your energy and with whom, and discover where you direct your focus in day-to-day life. Your birth chart can also serve as a roadmap for healing on a soul level.
Chiron, often referred to as the “wounded healer,” is commonly associated with the areas of life where healing is most needed. And yes, this is absolutely valid—Chiron becomes a teacher once your wounds are integrated. But, there is so much more beyond Chiron’s placement in your birth chart that can illuminate where and how healing can occur.
Lilith highlights the parts of yourself that feel exiled, cast aside, or shamed for their expression. Saturn reveals where you may feel restricted, delayed, or denied. Jupiter points to areas where you may be swept away by excess. Mars explores your relationship with anger and aggression. Venus uncovers challenges in interpersonal relationships. The Moon reveals mother wounds, while the Sun sheds light on father wounds.
Of course, there are many more layers to consider: the zodiac sign placements, the house placements, and the relationships between the planets and asteroids.
In my personal birth chart, I have Sun conjunct Mars (exact) in Scorpio in the eighth house. It has been crucial to my wellbeing to have a healthy outlet for my expression of anger. Directing my anger (Mars) inwards (8H) quite literally made me (Sun) sick. It’s a bad habit I inherited from my father (Sun). When I committed to my yoga practice, I was able to transmute (Scorpio/8H) the physical energy of anger (Mars) into positives: strenghtening my mind-body connection, improving my physical and spiritual health, and sense of vitality (Sun).
